It’s not just a diamond, let’s put a little thought into the origin and formation of such a precious stone. A diamond remains fascinating beyond its value based on color and clarity. It possesses quite a complex growth history. The following factors contribute to this element of fascination; the source of carbon that it formed from, and the trace elements and minerals that combined with the carbon to grow into a unique diamond. Consider the thousands of years spent in the earths mantle, the effect of the resident temperature on the nitrogen impurities to create the various hues. Finally consider the violent upheaval that rapidly transported that diamond to the earth’s surface, to lie there until discovered? Now  that’s precious!
